Best time to visit
When to come
May to October
The dry season, and the best months for game viewing everywhere. Vegetation thins and animals gather at water. Hwange and Chobe peak from July.
February to May
Victoria Falls at maximum flow. Spectacular and loud, though in April the spray can obscure the viewpoints entirely. Bring a raincoat.
May to October
The Okavango flood, arriving from Angola months after the rain that caused it. High water is what makes mokoro travel possible.
November to April
Green season. Dramatic skies, newborn antelope and the best birding of the year, with quieter camps and lower rates.
